while only a few centipedes are known to opportunistically hunt mammals in the wild, other vertebrates like lizards, snakes, and frogs are not uncommon prey for larger scolopendrids, and many will also take carrion*. for captive specimens, an insect-based diet is appropriate, and occasional frozen/thawed meatier treats like this are unnecessary but can offer variety. I’ve been told feeding anything with fur on should be avoided for digestive health. I’d prefer to feed small reptiles if they were more readily available frozen, since that seems more of a natural diet, but then again there are people who feed ‘pedes cooked chicken, cat food, and salmon with little apparent issue, so I suppose they can handle various types of protein.
